Senator JD Vance, Republican from Ohio, invested in AmplifyBio, which conducts animal testing on dogs, monkeys and other animals to test experimental drugs for other companies. With $200 million from JD Vance’s firm, AmplifyBio killed a lab monkey after getting wedged in faulty lab equipment, and technician error left other monkeys with burns on their genitals.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s cruel murder of her 14-month old dog, Cricket, is the most egregious and cruel treatment of animals by a politician. Her book describes shooting Cricket and tossing him in a gravel pit. She even doubled down on her despicable act by suggesting she would shoot President Biden’s dog as well.

Her personal treatment of animals mirrors her record in office. In 2018, Noem voted against a bipartisan amendment in the House Farm Bill that aimed to crack down on dogfighting and cockfighting crimes.

He hopped on a plane to Cancun for a beach vacation. Turns out he also left his family dog, Snowflake, at home to face the winter storm alone while Cruz sipped mai tais in the sun.

The Senator might have just forgotten his dog but given that he also forgot to support animal protection legislation, earning a 0% rating from the Humane Society Legislative Fund, it seems Ted Cruz’s disregard for animals isn’t just a memory problem.
