About Us
Animal Protection PAC aims to hold elected officials who fail to prioritize animal welfare accountable and support animal welfare champions. Monied interests from pharmaceutical companies to right-wing donors pour millions of dollars into elections each year electing politicians who do not live up to the values animals – from pets to endangered species – deserve. Our goal is to build a grassroots movement to raise money and fund the campaigns of animal champions to combat the deluge of special interest money they face.
We believe protecting animals aligns with the core values of the Democratic Party. While there are a handful of Republicans who support pro-animal legislation, overwhelming the animal protection community and the bulk of pro-animal elected officials – including 88% of the Animal Protection Caucus – are Democrats. As such, our PAC is focused on supporting pro-animal Democrats and holding Republicans who support anti-animal legislation accountable.
Supporting pro-animal candidates and elected officials isn’t enough if we don’t hold the worst actors accountable. From Donald Trump’s disregard for endangered species to Kristi Noem’s cruel murdering of her dog, Cricket, to Sen. Marshall’s EATS Act that would prevent state’s from protecting animals from cruelty, we will target Republicans who have taken actions to hurt animals and refuse to support measures to protect animal welfare. By helping fund their opponents, Animal Protection PAC’s grassroots supporters will send a message to politicians that they must put protecting animals first in their public actions.
Protecting animals comes in many forms and Animal Protection PAC will support legislators who support a broad range of pro-animal legislation. We will support legislation focused on animal equity in housing like Rep. Schiff’s Pets Belong with Families Act, wildlife preservation legislation like Rep. Blumenauer’s Saving America’s Pollinators Act and Rep Titus’ Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act and preventing animal cruelty legislation like Rep. Krishnamoorthi’s Animal Welfare Enforcement Improvement Act and Sen. Durbin’s Puppy Protection Act.
